During our April prep meeting, the ladies of our PADS Ministry team came together with the idea to share some joy and blessings with our homeless mothers from SSPADS. Working with our SSPADS sister-in-Christ, Rashida Hughes, Shelter Operations Coordinator, they were given the names of 15 individuals to prepare personalized Mother's Day cards and bags full of wonderful items including hand lotions, assorted beauty supplies, manicure sets, picture frames, socks, cookies and candies, and emory boards. Each mother also received gift cards for Target and Dunkin Donuts. Kids from our Religious Education program prepared prayer cards for each of the mothers. On Wednesday, 8 May 2024, the ladies team came together to package all the items for delivery on the same day to the SSPADS office.Our PADS Ministry here at St John Neumann Parish is truly blessed with individuals who continue to provide their time, resources and generosity to serve those most in need in our communities. In the month of March, the PADS Ministry at St John Neumann Parish had the wonderful opportunity to bring some joy to our PADS children by providing 34 Easter Bags for them. At our planning meeting held the week before the monthly dinner service, the ladies of our PADS Ministry team determined the contents of each of the bags and met on Wednesday, 27 March to fill them with lots of treats! Many thanks to Theresa Funke, Sue Benigni. Peg Boivin, Kathie Adduci, Peggy Childs, Elaine Bulanda, Rose Ann Rooney and Anna Egoske for providing those items and coordinating the packaging of the bags.The monthly dinner of corn beef with cabbage, vegetables and potatoes was provided and prepared by John and Helen Kearns. Their day started at around 11:30am in the gymnasium kitchen as they began the process of slow cooking all the ingredients necessary to make this a very special meal for our PADS clients. Thanks to Mary Ellen Brabec for providing the rye bread; Anna Egoske for making and packaging fancy cup cakes for dessert and Eric Griffiths for providing the packets of horseradish.After the Easter Bags were filled, other team members moved to the kitchen for the packaging of the dinners and loading them into our carry bags for delivery to the current hotel location.We want to welcome new members that have joined our PADS Ministry recently including; Renee Cruikohank-Ward, Yasmin Vaughn, Becky Witts, Shirley Bloodsworth, Angela Murray, Anna Egofske and Jeanne Bodnar.The Blessing Bags created by the SJN Confirmation class, using materials from Catholic Charities (see the March 10 SJN bulletin for photos and story) were delivered along with the dinners and Easter bags.
