St. Joseph’s Religious Education MLK Day of Service, January 21, 2019 Thank you for your donations to the South Suburban Family Shelter
On Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, St. Joseph’s Religious Education program hosted a drive to collect a variety of goods for the South Suburban Family Shelter (SSFS), an organization that helps victims of domestic violence.
Student volunteers: Mathieu Augustave, William Augustave, Dylan Barnas, Zoe Barnas, Joshua Fajardo, Maggie Franc, Matthew Lively, and Jurni Tollerson, helped collect, sort and inventory donations. Our very generous parishioners donated many things from boots and gloves to toiletries, cleaning supplies and food. In total we received 67 toiletry items, 218 items of non-perishable food items, 22 cleaning products, and 31 items of clothing (even more donations came in after these were counted). We did this service activity on MLK Day to bring people together and care for each other. As we reflected on the donations, we described our parish as giving, selfless, helpful, caring, and generous.
