Homewood threw a Block Party on Friday, July 13, to showcase all the village has to offer to viewers on WGN-Channel 9 Morning News.
The event officially started at 6 a.m. in downtown Homewood and before 7 a.m. the St. Joe parking lot was full. People came from the Homewood-Flossmoor community and surrounding areas to see the TV personalities, enjoy games, music and foods. Visitors sauntered through downtown and stopped at booths set up by organizations, including St. Joseph’s Youth Ministry, to learn about their efforts.
The day’s Block Party spectacular concluded with a parade at 9:15 a.m. Each of the more than 30 organizations represented were announced by WGN broadcasters, including St. Joseph Falcons cheerleaders and volleyball players. Your support at the St. Joseph Athletic Association’s annual fish fry helps fund these and other sports teams for our parish.
